With the new camera I decided it was time to do some more firelight shots. Most of them didn't come out or I just didn't care for. I don't know enough about f-stop, and exposures to get the shots I wanted. Ironically, I had a higher proportion of shots I liked when I did this previously with just the Samsung NV10. On the other hand, this shot came out very nicely. The only downside being the fire had died down such that you can't see the bike in this picture without looking for it. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the shot. A new favorite self-portrait!
One of the many nice things about Abu Dhabi is we have real internet. The system I am on is fiberoptic, though the speeds don't match up to the speeds I had in Japan three years ago, they are good. And after Saudi Arabia they are fantastic.
So, internet gaming is a valid hobby from here, as is playing Assassins Creed: Brotherhood on the Xbox. With the summer heat already turning on, indoor hobbies will be a must for the next couple of months. Of course, it's fall I'm really looking forward to with the release of the new Star Wars MMO, "The Old Republic".
Residule Self Image Originally uploaded by Kevin.Haroun Back in Taif after a quick trip to Jeddah the other day. Got my motorcycle insurance in order. I can go down and get the bike next weekend. Which should allow for some more interesting photos on the weekends.
My theme for today's photo is "residual self-image", that is, how you imagine yourself. So, the clothes, props and even background of this photo are part of that theme. T-shirt and blazer (my daily look in Japan), jeans that fit decently, and my hiking boots. I should say my biking boots, as this is what they are worn for, with that black spot on the left boot where the gear shift has rubbed.
And a cigar, naturally.
Anyone else up for doing a photo in this theme? It was a fun exercise.
